Philosophy
When I decided to open my own firm, I wanted to do things differently than what I have seen in other practices throughout my career. I particularly enjoy working with small businesses, including start-ups and 'mom & pop' shops. In order to attract these clients, I needed to offer an all-inclusive menu of services and make it affordable to companies that really have to evaluate every expense. In order to keeps those fees as low as possible, I designed my practice so that I work from a home office, online and at my clients' premises. I've learned that my clients would rather have experience, responsiveness and service at a price they can afford much more than they want a fancy office to visit. Keeping my overhead low also allows me to have a smaller client base, which is important because I want to give each and every client the full attention they need and deserve.
I also know that small business owners and busy professionals often end up wearing many different hats and have more to do than there are hours in the day. That's why I use online programs for accounting, payroll and tax information exchange. Clients will be able to login to a secure client portal on my website and with a couple of clicks of the mouse, enter transactions, review documents, run reports, even pay their bill. All this can be done from anywhere, as long as the client has an internet connection. I hope this will alleviate some of the time that clients have to spend at the office - they can go home, have dinner with the family, put the kids to bed and then logon to all their services from home. Using these 'cloud computing' solutions is cost effective, efficient and more secure than most client or accountant networks. The client and I will be accessing the same data bases, eliminating the complications and inconvenience that come from swapping electronic or paper accounting files. These solutions also allow me to provide real-time answers and feedback rather than waiting until after the end of the period.
